Thank you to all the grandparents and special friends who joined us for a really fun  morning.  (See pictures at the bottom of the blog.)

With the cold weather upon us, please make sure your children have the proper clothes for recess!  They need jackets, hats, gloves, snow pants and boots!! Scarves are optional! We go out every day that the temperature is above 20 degrees and windchill in double digits.  Snow does not deter us; in fact we love it!!

WINTER PROGRAM, DECEMBER 1, 7:00 PM
All children in Grades 1-4 will be participating in singing.  The Third and Fourth Graders will join the Middle and Upper School in dance-tumbling.  It is always a wonderful show and a great Roycemore tradition.  We hope to see you all there.

Children in Grades 1-4 should wear dark pants (black preferred) and light tops (white preferred) for both Grandparents Day and Winter Program.  Please no blue jeans.  Thank you!!!

In this webinar, parents and educators will become aware of the pressures on girls today and the hidden culture of girls’ relationship aggressions. Participants will take away new skills to help girls handle conflicts directly and effectively; know and express their emotions in healthy ways; handle teasing and “mean words”; speak with authority, be unafraid of making mistakes; and become strong leaders.

HOUR OF CODE FAMILY CELEBRATION FRIDAY, DECEMBER 9
The Hour of Code is a week-long, global effort to get kids to learn about computer programming, an essential 21st skill. Just like last year, Roycemore will participate in a few ways.  Most of our students, in all grade levels, will complete coding lessons during class throughout the week.  The week will end with our 3rd annual Family Coding Celebration.  This fun family event will take place Friday, December 9, from 3:30-5:00 pm in the MPR.  For more information go to  http://roycemorehourofcode.weebly.com/

A TIME OF GIVING
Although we promote community service all year long, this is the time of year that the Roycemore community does many things to contribute to the greater community around us.

1. NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY CHILDREN'S GENTLY USED COAT DRIVE. The Upper School National Honor Society is asking for new or gently used coats for children who are in Kindergarten through 8th Grade.  Also if you still have any children's clothes for these ages that you want to donate, they will be happy to take those too. There will be bins throughout the school. The clothes will be going to ESCCA (Evanston School Children's Clothing Association), which provides clothes for students in the Evanston/Skokie area.

2. TOYS-FOR TOTS COLLECTION MONDAY 11/28 THROUGH FRIDAY 12/9  There will be bins throughout the building, please bring in new toys for needy children.

3. PROJECT LINUS FRIDAY 12/16
As part of our Wassail celebration, all members of the Roycemore community (parents welcome) will work together to create fleece blankets for Project Linus.
