THEME WEEK, MAKERS OF CIVILIZATION, will take place this week, February 27 through March 3.  The students are divided into multi-age groupings where they will be asked to create a civilization based on a certain biome, such as tundra, aquatic, desert, forest, or grassland. Much of what they create will need recyclable materials.  You can see all the materials outside my office, and we thank you for them. We can always use more, so if you have the following around your house and would like to find a good home for them.  We can still use them.

Hot glue guns (low heat) (colored plastic handles)
Duct tape
Masking tape,
Packing tape
Screws, nuts, bolts
Fabric
Craft materials
Milk containers (2-gallon jugs)
Scotch tape
cardboard,
plastic containers,
cereal boxes,
Paper towel/toilet paper rolls (core)
or anything else you might have around that you think our kids could use
Please bring them to my office.

The offerings look wonderful!  Registration opened on February 1.

  1. The Junior Kindergarten stresses being kind to everyone.  One way is to fill each other's "bucket" by doing good deeds for each other.

  2. All of the Lower School students loved the warm weather this week.

  3. One of the Third Grade signature experience is the "Wax Museum."  Each student reads a biography of a hero.  He/she then writes a essay about the life of his/her hero using the writing process. They then dress as their heroes and become that person at the Wax Museum, where they come to life and tell the visitors about themselves.

ATTENDANCE
We are working on making sure our attendance records are accurate every day. Please help us with this by following the absence-reporting procedures:
When a student is ill and/or will be absent from school, the school must be notified by a parent or legal guardian. To report your child's absence, call 847-866-6055 or email attendance@roycemoreschool.org. Parents may wish to email teachers directly, but please be sure to send the message to the attendance email address above as well. If your student’s absence is not reported in this way by 9 am, Bea at the front desk will be calling home. Please be aware that she may call, even if you have already notified your teacher (but not emailed the attendance email). Thank you for helping and understanding!
